The "Golden Hour" after birth
That first hour after your baby is born matters more than most people realize.
It’s when your baby is wide-awake, alert, and ready to meet you. Skin-to-skin contact helps regulate your baby’s temperature, heart rate, and breathing, and it also triggers your body to release oxytocin, the hormone that helps the placenta be born and starts milk production and most importantly imprints the bonding process.
When we leave birth parents and baby undisturbed in that first hour, we see babies crawl to the breast and latch on their own. It’s not magic. It’s instinct.
Too often, that time gets interrupted for weighing, wiping, and checking. But most of those things can wait.
Your baby only has one first hour. Lets protect that hour!

Meal Planning and Meal Prep
This usually covers 5 days of prepped lunches and dinners for one person, or fewer meals for a family. Can be customized to your needs.
Nutrient Focus: Prioritizing foods rich in iron, healthy fats, fiber, and protein to aid physical healing, stabilize blood sugar, and support milk production.
Minimal Preparation: Focusing on meals that are easy to reheat, and require little to no cooking on the day of consumption. This often involves freezing pre-cooked meals (like casseroles, soups, and muffins).
Hydration: Scheduling or integrating fluid-rich foods and easy-to-grab beverages.
Convenience: Utilizing simple, non-perishable snacks and easily assembled meals (e.g., yogurt, trail mix, deli wraps) that can be eaten quickly while tending to the newborn.
Navigating Baby's First Pediatrician Visit
My role is to handle the logistics so you can focus entirely on the baby and the doctor's instructions. This includes:
Transportation and Timing: Ensuring the car seat is properly installed, managing the clock to arrive on time, and handling the physical movement of the baby and gear in and out of the clinic.
Gear Management: Carrying the diaper bag, blankets, and any documents (like discharge papers or insurance cards).
Check-In and Wait: Handling the check-in process, filling out forms, and managing the waiting room. The parent can hold the baby while you handle the clipboard.
Documentation: Acting as a second set of ears and hands during the consultation. This is the most valuable role. I will take notes on key information, such as:
Instructions regarding feeding amounts or frequency.
Specific details about medication dosages (if any).
The date and time for the next appointment.
Any key milestones or warning signs the doctor mentions.
